New Skin

Okay, so before anyone asks, or points it out, YES! I stole this skin. But its absolutely gorgeous, and the author made it available to download. I did take up his suggestion to put a graphic at the header, and *THAT* I did do myself, with a photograph I took myself. So thanks to gostango for the beautiful skin!

I'm also working on replacing the photo gallery with something that will give me a bit more control and flexibility over when photos go up and down. I'm having a heck of a time managing my freespace on the server, and it feels like a waste to invest time into a photo gallery only to have all your hard work go away when you have to yank it to make room for more photos! The new photo gallery might even be up next week! :)

Anyhow, what do y'all think of the new look? PLEASE! Let me know!

So, I mis-quoted this a little bit earlier, but the meaning was the same:

“El que mucho se despide, pocas ganas tiene de irse.”

Its a phrase a good friend of mine taught me years ago. It translates roughly to: “Those who say they have to go often, rarely want to leave.”

It's such a beautiful expression, that I've remembered somehow. One of the best uses of Spanish I can remember on a constant basis.

Is it vacation time yet?

I cannot tell you how incredibly ready for vacation I am! Today is the 9th consequitive day for me working, It's barely 1pm on Tuesday and I've already got 22 hours in for the week. Fun, eh?

But, starting tomorrow night, I'll so be in vacation mode. Tomorrow night is dinner at Carlos O'Brien's with some of the best people in the world! Then Thursday I pick up Diablo at the airport have lunch, work a couple more hours and start partying with everyone! It will not come soon enough I tell you!

Hmmm... I don't remember putting CM up as a hottie of the moment. I musta been drunk. Oops. And I even missed open mic last night cuz I was so exhausted that I went to bed MUY early, and then even slept in MUY late, because I forgot to set my alarm! Oh well.

Moonrise

Damn, the moonrise was gorgeous tonight! Big and beatiful, and peeking through the clouds. What a sight! Too bad I didn't have a camera (yes, I know... I'm a photographer, and I didn't have a camera with me... *sigh*)

Speaking of photography... 8 contact sheets, and 23 test images done tonight! I think this project is finally coming together. I can feel a directon now. I think that after the NM trip, there may be one small trip left, but that's about it. We're already at 12 rolls for this phase of the project, so I'm quite pleased with that actually. And some of the images I've got are simply awesome.

I'm ready for a vacation though... so next week will not come soon enough!

I need a whole other weekend so I can rest from this one!

Friday night -- Elliots @ The Last Exit! WOW what a fun time that was! It was great seeing everyone agan. I also snagged copies of 2 of Kate's previous albums, and got to listen to them on Saturday!

Saturday, I put ~450 miles on the car, and took pictures. I ended up shooting in Ft. Thomas, Safford, and Clifton. I did a lot in Clifton actually. While I was shooting my first roll in Clifton, a gentleman came up to me and we chatted for a few minutes. He told me directions to what he described as the most beautiful house he's ever seen. He said it's now a bed & breakfast, and the lady who runs it was actually born in the house. He said she's pushing 80 now. So, after I was done shooting, I ventured out the way of the directions, and sure enough, just as Ruben described, when you crest this one hill, and you look down to your left towards the river, you see one of the most beatiful houses ever built! OH MY GOD! It is simply breathtaking! I didn't feel that I had enough time to go down and talk to the owner, as the sun had already sneaked down over the hills, and I knew I had a long drive home. BUT! Someday I'm going to go out there and have to stay overnight and see what kind of images I could get out of it. I can't describe how big, and beautiful this house is. Anyone who wants directions, you're free to email me and I'll type them out (I have them jotted down).

Today, I cleaned out the car, and while doing so realized that I'm low on a couple fluids... so it looks like Its time for that overhaul that I've been postponing... I also continued putting away into the photo albums MANY of my unfiled rolls. I think I have all the photos put away. I'm working on the negatives tonight. I originally had planned on doing film tonight, but I know that will take some time, and I think I'll do them tomorrow.

HEY! If anyone knows how to change the tail light of an Isuzu Rodeo, let me know! I can only find 2 screws but the damn things still won't come out. I don't know if there's another fastener, or if you just tug a little harder... I don't want to break it. I have the bulbs, and I can see how they go into the tail light assembly, but I just can't get the tail light assembly out of the car! *sigh* Oh well!

Interesting Thought

So, while reading my book earlier, I came across this passage, and it started me thinking:

“...gradually she let [her talents] define the nature of what it was that she did. She'd thought of that as going with the flow, but maybe, she thinks now, it had really been the path of least resistance. What if that flow naturally tended to the path of least resistance? Where does that take you?”

So what if the flow really is the path of least resistance? How often is that the case? My trials at work this week seem to be that the path of least resistance is the normal flow of things these days. Which is somewhat frustrating at times. Something to think about I guess.

In other news, my Axim X3i came today! YIPPEE!!! It's very purdy... now i just gotta figure out how to get it configured between home and work! I thought of a neat idea: a quick & dirty app on the PocketPC that i can enter blog entries into, and when it sync's it can post them for me. Hmm....
